The Purity affinity is a return to the classical Greek or Roman views of the world from Earth’s past in the way that they prefer to change the world to suit humans. As a pursuer of Harmony, your visual identity is unique. With Harmony, the goal is to alter the human identity through DNA modifcation so that it achieves symbiosis with the new planet. You can choose three different “affinities” for your society: harmony, purity, and supremacy. The title is a lot different from the original Civilization of 1991, as well as the last space-based Civ game, Sid Meier’s Alpha Centauri, which debuted in 1999. The city-devouring worms may remind you of the giant sandworms from the sci-fi novel Dune, but this game draws inspiration from many souces. The feature allows players to unlock technologies in any order and focus heavily on certain aspects of establishing a new civilization. One other neat feature the team showed off at E3 2014 was the non-linear technology web that allows civilizations to build up their colonies and unlock new technologies or improve existing ones. Another neat feature was how the game allowed a player to join in the game later but receive in-game benefits that allowed them to more easily catch up in technologies and other resources to compete with players that had already established their colony. Depending on how close players venture to their home or how much damage is done to the area, a whole swarm of enemies can come down on the scouting party and cause some real problems for players early on. One cool feature we noted was how the natives of the planet when players accidentally walk into their territory. In addition to building up various buildings and establishments, players will need to scout the nearby areas looking for new supplies to bring back to base and use to develop new technologies and advance their civilization. #Sid meiers civilization beyond earth demo seriesThe change from traditional historic settings and people make the game a completely different experience, but it's a welcome change for the series that feels like a breath of fresh air in a series that typically offers similar storylines with only improved graphics and features for each new release. It's a neat storyline that definitely has a strong science fiction influence that is felt throughout all of the design choices in the game. #Sid meiers civilization beyond earth demo fullThe worlds are already full of dangerous enemies that will challenge players that enter too close to their homes, but there are also plenty of valuable resources to be harvested for those brave enough to venture into the hazardous conditions. Players can choose from one of eight expedition sponsors and head out to space in order to start a new colonization on an uncivilized planet. Sid Meier's Civilization: Beyond Earth is the spiritual successor to the classic 1999 PC game Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri. Sid Meier's Civilization: Beyond Earth may be different from most other games in the series, but fans will likely love it all the same. The new setting takes players to a futuristic alien world where there are plenty of new alien enemies to encounter as well as out of this world resources that opens up the game to develop all sorts of new weapons and technologies. The demo only allowed attendees to experience the game for the first 50 turns of a match with a set character class, but the short amount of time was more than enough time to show the polish and highly entertaining gameplay that fans have come to expect from the Civilization series. The game was on display at E3 2014 with a demo for the upcoming game, and we were able to go hands-on with the game at the event. 2K Games and Firaxis have announced the upcoming release of Sid Meier's Civilization: Beyond Earth for PC.
